In Response to AI as the Biggest Trust Problem We've Ever Faced
This morning my CEO forwarded me this article. It's great. I wrote this in response to that article.

Read on LinkedInI lead the team that created Audition AI, and as I read Brett Kelsey's piece, I had a very specific reaction:
This is exactly why we built it.
Not in a hand‑wavy, "we care about security" kind of way — but in a deeply personal, architectural, and intentional way.
Brett put words to a problem that has been bothering me for years: AI is advancing faster than our ability to trust it. And the gap between curiosity and control is widening every day.
Curiosity Was Never the Problem
Like Brett, I'm deeply optimistic about AI. I'm fascinated by it. I want to pull it apart, see how it works, and push it to do incredible things.
That curiosity is what led me to experiment with agents, workflows, orchestration, reasoning models — all of it.
And like Brett, the more capable these systems became, the louder the other voice got:
"This is amazing… but I don't trust it yet."
Not because the models were bad. Because the defaults were wrong.
The Moment That Clarified Everything
The turning point for me was realizing this:
If a highly capable AI system can be deployed in minutes, but takes days of deep security expertise to make defensible, then the system is fundamentally misdesigned.
That isn't a user problem. That's an architectural one.
Most AI platforms today are built to optimize availability first:
- Fast access
- Broad capability
- Minimal friction
Confidentiality, integrity, and governance are things you're expected to bolt on later — if you even realize you need to.
That's the CIA triad upside down.
And that inversion is not accidental. It's the result of building AI as a tool instead of as infrastructure.
Agentic AI Changes Everything — and That's the Point
Brett is absolutely right: agentic AI is a different animal.
When AI can:
- Take actions
- Move data
- Execute workflows
- Act autonomously over time
…you are no longer dealing with a chatbot. You are deploying a digital actor inside your organization.
And yet, we've been handing these actors:
- Ambient access to sensitive data
- Implicit trust in their outputs
- Little to no auditability
- Guardrails that rely on "good prompting"
That combination is not sustainable.
Why We Built Audition AI the Way We Did
Audition AI exists because we made a very explicit decision early on:
Trust is not a feature. It is the product.
That decision shaped everything:
- Audition AI runs in your cloud, not ours
- Your data never trains shared models
- Identity, access, and permissions are explicit and enforced

- Outputs are grounded in real data, with traceability and audit trails
- Governance and compliance are built in from day one, not layered on later
We didn't do this because it was easy. We did it because anything else felt irresponsible.
This Is the Part Brett Gets Exactly Right
What Brett describes isn't fear. It's pattern recognition.
We've seen this cycle before:
- Internet
- Cloud
- Mobile
Innovate first. Secure later. Clean up after the incident.
AI doesn't give us that luxury.
The speed is too fast. The autonomy is too real. The blast radius is too large.
Waiting for the AI equivalent of a "9/11 moment" before we take trust seriously would be a massive failure of leadership.
The Real Goal Isn't Control — It's Confidence
I don't want people to stop experimenting with AI. I want them to experiment without putting their organization at risk.
I don't want executives to slow innovation. I want them to be able to defend it — to regulators, boards, and customers.
And I don't want trust to be something we hope for. I want it to be something we can prove.
That's what we do at Audition AI.

Brett's article isn't a warning against AI. It's a call to build it better.
